Troye Sivan said "thank u, next" to an LGBTQ publication claiming Ariana Grande's latest music video is "laden with transmisogyny, anti-queer jokes, and blackface."

INTO, Grindr's "digital magazine for the modern queer world," published an article earlier today calling Grande's teen rom-com homage "surprisingly anti-queer." It begins by alleging Grande's doing blackface in the video before pivoting to homophobia accusations, using Sivan's role in the video as "proof."

"Gay singer/actor Troye Sivan repeats a rumor, 'I heard she’s a lesbian now and dating some chick called Aubrey. It’s fucking sick.' Lesbians! Hilarious, right? The reference comes from Apple Music mistranslating a lyric, '‘Cause her name is Aubrey' instead of 'Ari,' which led people to think she was referencing another woman. Some commentators accused her of queerbaiting with the potentially misleading lyrics, others commended it for being empowering. She was so offended at the very thought of having a woman as her lover, she even addressed it at the very beginning of her music video."

Later in the video, Grande, in Regina George fashion, shoves Sivan into a locker. "He clutches his books happy that she even touched him," writes the INTO editor. "Queer people are apparently glad to be disrespected so long as it’s by someone as popular as Ariana."

(I mean... tea. Ariana if you're reading this, please shove me next.)

The piece goes on to say Grande and Coolidge's quips about big teeth are heteronormative, Grande dancing in front of the queer people in the beauty parlor is gay erasure, one man oogling the UPS guy reinforces the gay predator stereotype, and that Kris Jenner gleefully shouting, "Thank you, next bitch," at the video's close is actually a transmisogynistic shot at Caitlyn Jenner.

The article did not go over well on social media. It currently has 259 retweets and over 1.5 thousand responses, mostly Twitter users heckling opinions.

"I have a lot of questions that your editor probably should have asked," wrote one reader.

"I can’t believe y’all posted this w confidence," said another. "This reads like a forgotten term paper written and submitted an hour before the deadline..."

Even Troye Sivan chimed in on the dragging.

This literally can’t be real I’m scream

"This literally can’t be real I’m scream," tweeted the "Dance To This" singer.

The article has been received so poorly, especially by Grande's rabid fans, that INTO added an editor's note explaining why they removed the name of the writer from the piece.

"We have decided to remove the author's name from this piece after the editorial team was alerted that a high volume of death threats were being made against the writer as a result of the opinions presented in this piece. INTO is a place for varying opinions from LGBTQ people around the world, and will remain to be that place — but these opinions never warrant violence. And when a writer's own life could be potentially at stake, we must take the necessary steps to ensure their safety."
