The Strip just got a little messier — and a lot more delicious. Redhead Burger, the smash burger sensation born on Miami Beach's Ocean Drive, has officially planted its flag in Las Vegas with its first West Coast location inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., it's the kind of place that makes you forget you're surrounded by luxury boutiques and gondoliers.
The concept is simple and unapologetically indulgent: premium, never-frozen beef smashed to crispy, juicy perfection on a flat top, stacked onto a soft potato bun, and served alongside hand-cut fries fried fresh to order. Founded in October 2019 by brothers Sammy and Chris Mounayyer — along with their father — Redhead Burger grew quickly into one of South Beach's most beloved spots. The name? Credit goes to their mom. Sammy explained it best.
"My brother's a redhead, my sisters are redheads, and my dad is a redhead. The only one who's not a redhead is my mom — and she's the one who came up with the name. So it all worked out together, which is perfect."
The menu is a tight, well-edited lineup that gives you just enough choices without overwhelming you. The flagship Redhead Burger is a triple-patty behemoth loaded with triple American cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and the restaurant's proprietary Redhead sauce — a rich, craveable blend that anchors nearly every item on the menu. It is, to put it plainly, a lot of burger, and it is absolutely worth it. The Redhot Burger brings the heat with double patties, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and applewood smoked bacon, while the Hangover Burger — double patty, American cheese, fried egg, tater tots, bacon, and Redhead sauce — delivers on every promise its name makes.
For the non-beef contingent, the Crispy Chicken sandwich is a genuine standout: a thick, generously portioned piece of homemade fried chicken topped with pepper jack, caramelized onions, and that signature sauce. It's juicy, crispy, and exactly the kind of sandwich that makes you reconsider your usual order. There's also a Mushroom Burger — a battered and fried portobello with lettuce, tomato, and Redhead sauce — for those skipping the meat entirely.
Sides arrive in regular, Cajun-spiced, or loaded variations, and the milkshake menu runs from the classics (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) to the inspired (Dulce de Leche, Nutella, Oreo), with seasonal limited-edition flavors on the way. Draft beer rounds out the drinks menu for those who want something cold alongside their fries.
Quality Over Convenience
What sets Redhead Burger apart from the growing field of smash burger competitors isn't just the proprietary beef blend — it's the operational philosophy behind it. Sammy is refreshingly straightforward about the extra effort involved in keeping things fresh.
"We cut the potatoes in every single location. Everything comes extremely fresh daily. We're trying to minimize big orders from large corporations like Sysco and instead go to local suppliers — for the butcher, for the lettuce and tomatoes. It's a little bit of extra work to find the locals, but it helps a lot, and word of mouth is very important."
That commitment to quality is also why the brothers aren't rushing into franchising. For now, Sammy says, the goal is to keep every location corporate-owned and family-run so quality and consistency can be controlled at every step. A new Miami location is planned for mid-July, with Las Vegas serving as the first outpost beyond South Florida.
"We come from a very tourist area on Ocean Drive, so another extreme tourist destination is just an absolute blessing. When the opportunity comes, I absolutely jump on it."
The Space
The 50-seat restaurant is decked out in bold red and white, with a fun retro sensibility that makes it instantly photogenic. Seating options include an interior dining room, a patio, and — if you're lucky enough to snag it — the burger couch, a plush throwback to old-school burger joints that feels like its own small piece of americana tucked inside one of the Strip's most opulent shopping destinations. The location itself is steps from the replica Grand Canal, which means you can watch gondoliers float past while demolishing a triple cheeseburger. Las Vegas, indeed.
The staff energy on our visit matched the food: enthusiastic, warm, and genuinely excited to be there. When we asked a counter staffer what to order, the answer was immediate — "Everything" — and she was not wrong.
