Las Vegas has long been a city of reinvention and self-expression, and few artists embody this spirit more than Gina Bobina. A powerhouse in the local art scene, Gina’s work spans bold canvases, intricate tattoos, and vibrant murals, each piece infused with the raw energy and individuality that define her. With an upcoming event, Fine Art, Canvas, and Cocktails at Gipsy Nightclub in collaboration with Slonina ARTSpace on February 15, Gina is bringing her art into one of the city’s most legendary LGBTQ+ spaces.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Gina to talk about her journey, inspirations, and what attendees can expect from her upcoming show.

From Philly to Vegas: An Artist’s Journey

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Gina credits the city—and her family—for fueling her artistic drive. “I was surrounded by creativity from a young age,” she shares. “My mom is a fashion designer, and my dad was always exposing us to different ways of thinking and seeing the world.” Those influences set the stage for Gina’s artistic exploration, which took her from Philly to Los Angeles, Miami, and ultimately Las Vegas.

“I never thought I’d live in Vegas,” Gina laughs. “I used to say I’d visit, have fun, and leave before the city got to me. But in 2013, I made the move, thinking it was temporary. Eleven years later, here I am.”

Initially trained in graphic design, Gina earned her degree in art education from California State University, Long Beach. Teaching became an important chapter in her life, but her passion for creating never faded. “I love teaching, but I needed to create full-time,” she explains. “Las Vegas gave me the opportunity to do that.”

Artistic Influences and Evolution

Gina’s influences are as eclectic as her portfolio. “Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring—I love artists who make bold statements. Their work speaks volumes in a way that’s both fun and deeply meaningful,” she says.

Her own style merges fine art with street art, tattoo culture, and pop influences. She’s captivated by the idea of transformation, particularly within the LGBTQ+ and drag communities. “I’m fascinated by how drag performers use makeup and fashion to express different sides of themselves. That’s something I try to capture in my work—fluidity, identity, and unapologetic self-expression.”

Tattoos: Permanent Art with Personal Meaning

In addition to painting, Gina is also a tattoo artist. “Tattooing is a whole different ballgame,” she says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to create something that people carry with them forever.” She and her partner, fellow artist Dave, run Roadkill Tattoo, a mobile tattoo studio housed in a custom RV. “It’s such a fun, unique space,” she shares. “People can come in, get inked, and be part of a creative environment that feels personal and free.”

The Las Vegas Art Scene

Having been part of the local art community for over a decade, Gina has seen it evolve. “Las Vegas has such a welcoming, thriving art scene,” she says. “It’s a place where artists can truly make a living doing what they love. There’s this energy of reinvention—whether you’re a painter, a tattoo artist, a performer, or a designer, you’re supported here.”

She’s also excited about the increasing intersection between different creative communities. “It’s not just about galleries and traditional spaces anymore. Art is showing up in nightclubs, restaurants, and even tattoo studios. The city is embracing its creative side in a big way.”

Fine Art, Canvas, and Cocktails: A Celebration of Expression

Gina’s upcoming event at Gipsy Nightclub promises to be a dazzling showcase of her latest work. “I want people to come in, have fun, and leave with glitter on them—literally or metaphorically,” she says. The event will feature a series of vibrant, bold pieces inspired by playing card queens, a nod to Las Vegas’ iconic imagery and the powerful energy of the LGBTQ+ community.

“These pieces are an extension of myself—different versions of my identity, my muses, my influences,” she explains. “It’s about confidence, transformation, and celebrating who we are.”

The Future of Art in the LGBTQ+ Community

Gina is passionate about creating art that amplifies voices within the LGBTQ+ community. “Art is such a powerful tool for self-expression, and it’s more important now than ever,” she says. “My advice to young queer artists is to just keep creating. Try everything—paint, sketch, tattoo, sculpt, whatever speaks to you. Don’t let self-doubt stop you.”

She envisions a future where art plays an even greater role in LGBTQ+ spaces. “I’d love to see more murals, installations, and collaborative projects in the Fruit Loop and beyond,” she says. “We have such an amazing community here, and we should make it as vibrant and visible as possible.”
