"This year’s event has grown so large that we’re using seven different complexes," Sloan explains. "But the real showstopper will be our Friday Night Lights event, where we showcase our undefeated teams under the lights. It's going to be electric."

The opening ceremony on October 14th will take place at the Las Vegas Downtown Event Center, an open-air venue with a built-in stage, sound system, and lighting—perfect for the kind of spectacle the GSWS is known for. "Each city’s team will arrive with their own shirt, and by the end of the night, they’ll be trading shirts with players from other cities. Scheduled for October 15th, this special edition of the popular show will feature drag queens from the hit TV series, performing exclusively for GSWS participants and fans. "We listened to our members, and they told us that the word ‘gay’ didn’t necessarily represent everyone in our community," Sloan explains. "We wanted a name that would be more inclusive, that would represent everyone under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. That’s why we’re now known as International Pride Softball. It’s about making sure everyone feels welcome."
In addition to the name change, the GSWS is also exploring new ways to expand its reach and impact. With discussions underway about the possibility of changing the name of the tournament itself to better reflect its inclusive mission, Sloan and his team are committed to ensuring that the GSWS continues to be a place where all LGBTQ+ athletes feel welcome and celebrated.
