Las Vegas is known for its dazzling nightlife, but a new event series is bringing something fresh and innovative to the city’s thriving arts community. Waiting For Tonight, an exclusive art exchange, is redefining how local artists connect, collaborate, and showcase their talents. The brainchild of Jordy Castillo, Waiting For Tonight was initially envisioned as a one-time party but has quickly evolved into a movement fostering creative expression across multiple disciplines.
“At its core, Waiting For Tonight is an art exchange—a networking event designed to bring together the fine and performing arts communities,” explains Castillo, the event’s co-owner and CEO. “Whether you're a dancer who also does aerial work, a makeup artist exploring new creative avenues, or a sculptor looking to exhibit your pieces, this is a space where artists can showcase their full range of talents.”
After launching in July 2024, Waiting For Tonight quickly gained traction with its immersive showcases that transform familiar spaces into visually stunning, multi-sensory experiences. A signature element of each event is the dress code, encouraging attendees to become part of the artistic atmosphere.
Next up for Waiting For Tonight is The Velvet Affair, an alluring and immersive showcase happening on Wednesday, February 12, at Queen Bar and Qarma Nightclub. Designed to captivate the senses, the evening will celebrate love, mystery, and artistic expression in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day.
“Expect sexy mystery,” Castillo teases. “The night begins with a cocktail hour at Queen Bar from 8 to 9 pm, featuring local businesses and vendors. Then, attendees will enter the ‘portal’ into Qarma Nightclub, where they’ll be greeted with unexpected surprises, a carefully curated ambiance, and a showcase filled with breathtaking performances.”
The show will feature an array of artists, including dancers, musicians, specialty acts from major Vegas residency shows, and a 15-minute fashion show with five local designers and ten models. DJ Velvet Hoss and Braynwave , a resident DJ at Bellagio’s Pinky Ring, and Brainwave, a co-creator of Waiting For Tonight, will provide the night’s soundtrack. “We want guests to step into an entirely different world—one where they can experience art in a way they never have before,” Castillo says.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in all black or all red, embodying the event’s luxurious Velvet Affair aesthetic. “Some might think of Janet Jackson’s Velvet Rope, incorporating an S&M edge, but really, it’s all about red, sexy, and chic,” Castillo adds.
Beyond hosting visually and musically captivating events, Castillo envisions Waiting For Tonight as a platform for advocating for the Vegas arts community. Collaborations with fellow Creatives like professional dancer Shané Johnson (Co-Owner and Creative Director) and industry leaders are shaping future projects aimed at elevating local artists and amplifying their impact.
